Situated on a 138 acre estate overlooking Lough Corrib,
Glenlo Abbey was formerly the ancestral home of the French
and Blake families, two of the fourteen Tribes that ruled
over Galway for centuries. The original house dates back to
1740, and is still privately owned by the Bourke Family. At Glenlo Abbey Hotel we ensure your needs and comforts are met and, indeed, surpassed at every turn. Guests at Glenlo Abbey enjoy unrivaled personal service in the warmth of one of Ireland's most exclusive 5 Star Hotels. Whether it is business or pleasure that brings you to Glenlo Abbey Hotel, we know that the welcome you receive and the service you enjoy will give you good reason to return and visit us again. The 138 acre waterfront estate is home to a challenging double 9-hole Parkland, par 71, golf course with a 12-Bay driving range. This uniquely laid-out Golf Course, with very large Double Greens and Quadruple Tees is, in effect, two challenging 9-Hole Courses back to back. From the Championship Tees it measures 6,538 yards, with 3 other sets of Tees for Medal Rounds, Societies and Ladies. This takes on an 18-Hole character after playing the first 9 holes - a challenging course with an appealing difference! |

| Our state-of-the-art 12 Bay Driving Range opened in June 1996. Designed to blend in with its surroundings, it is a log construction and because it is floodlit, golfers can practice their swing until late every night all year round. You practise with real golf balls! | |

The Pullman Restaurant Converted into a wonderful Restaurant Car without losing any of its original character, this historic Pullman train carriage had been residing at Elsenham Station in Hertfordshire, England, before joining the many and varied facilities already available at Glenlo Abbey Hotel. Located just behind our golf course's first tee, it overlooks the old Clifden - Galway Railway Line which passed through the estate until its removal in 1935. The Pullman seats 66, and comprises two Carriages and a Kitchen Car. There are also two enclosed 6-seater Compartments - perfect for intimate Private Dining. The Dining Carriage, named "Leona", was formerly a 1st Class Parlour Car, and the richness of wood, marqueterie and brass-work within it reflect this former "raison d'étre" and offer an extraordinary dining experience. The bright and airy River Room, was designed to complement the history and tradition of the 260-year old Glenlo Abbey Hotel, while at the same time maximising our guests enjoyment of the superb views surrounding the Hotel. With tall windows on all five exterior walls, guests are afforded a view of Lough Corrib wherever they are seated. With its enchanting views and classical decor, it's an ideal choice for receptions or banquets and is the usual setting for buffet style, continental or traditional Irish breakfast.
